Debut title from Sandfall games proves popular with players and critics alike
Sandfall games took to X this week to announce that their debut title has already surpassed the one million units shifted milestone, without accounting for game pass numbers.
This milestone is even more impressive given it the release coincided with the surprise release of Elder IV: Oblivion remastered, who themselves have surpassed 4 million players since launch.
While Clair Obscur may not quite have reached the heights of Elder Scrolls, it is a brand new IP vs one of the most well known RPGs of all time, it is still being hailed by critics and fans alike as it puts up these impressive numbers.
It currently sits as one of the highest rated games of 2025 on Metacritic with a 92 Metascore as well as a 9.7 audience score, truly impressive numbers from the budding studio.
The good news for Sandfall doesn't stop there as even before the games' release, Story Kitchen, the production team behind the Sonic movies, snapped up the IP with a view to creating a live-action movie based in the Clair Obscur World in the future.
Time will tell whether the stellar voice cast from the game, including names like Daredevil's Charlie Cox and Lord of the Rings' Andy Serkis will take up their roles for the planned adaptation.
