Mortal Kombat 2 Red Band trailer breaks record for most views in 24 hours

The Trailer amassed a staggering 107million views on the day of its release

Mortal Kombat 2 broke the red band record for views amassed in a 24 hour window after it's release last week, according to deadline. The trailer beat the record held by its predecessor which took the record from the uber-popular Deadpool 2, no small feat.

While the trailer has put up great numbers, the reaction was mixed with some fans bemoaning Karl Urban's casting as Johnny Cage and unfortunately, even predictively , the fact that the Tati Gabrielle who plays Jade is bald.

The trailer rollout was one of the best in recent memory, with the Mortal Kombat X page holding a poll every five minutes in the hour before it's release to reveal the roster of fighters in a character select screen style. It didn't stop there with the studio also releasing a satire Johnny Cage movie trailer 24 hours prior entitled Uncaged Fury, a clear nod to classic 90s action flicks.

The actual trailer was full of nuggets any MK fan would recognise with maps like Portal, Outworld, and the Living Forrest all making an appearance. The roster of fighters also got a huge upgrade with Kitana, Sindel, Shao Kahn, Smoke, Jade, Johnny Cage and Baraka all joining the returning Cole, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kano, Shang Tsung, Raiden, Jax, Scorpion and Sonya Blade. I have a sneaky suspicion that Sub Zero will also re-appear albeit as Kuai Liang to confront his brother.

Only time will tell and we can all find out when the film releases on October 24th.
