Tony Hawk announces he and Activision have re-entered talks over a new instalment of his beloved Pro Skater franchise

Tony Hawk, speaking to Mythical Kitchen this past Friday, revealed that he and Activision are speaking about continuing the franchise with a project that fans will "really appreciate"

While speaking to Mythical Kitchen, Hawk was excited to announce that he and Activision were back in talks to keep the franchise alive. When asked about any plans for the title's 25th anniversary he replied:

"I wish I could tell you more, but I can tell you that I have been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting. We are working on something. That is the first time I have said that publicly".

Hawk had previously all but confirmed the franchise was dead in the water during a twitch stream appearance with former Neversoft dev Andy Gentile after the designer mentioned the possibility of remakes of the third and forth instalments. The Skater said: "that was the plan, even up until the release day of this (THPS 1+2) we were going three and four". However, these plans were dashed after Activision/Blizzard absorbed developers Vicarious Visions to help work on the Call of Duty series.

Activision did attempt to bring in other developers to continue the popular franchise with Hawk saying: "the truth of it is, they were trying to find someone else but they just didn't trust anyone the way they did Vicarious". Once these plans broke down that seemed to be the end of it until the skater's appearance on Mythical Kitchen this week.
