"Team Blue" has spent the past few years acquiring some of the biggest names on the industry
Netflix has shut down its California based game studio, known as "Team Blue" which was poised to try and help the company break in to the AAA gaming market.
The studio had collected major talent from across some of the biggest studios in gaming with former Halo creative lead Joseph Staten, God of War Art Director Ralph Grassetti and Overwatch executive producer Chacko Sonny all joining the studio after its creation. The studio was closed down this month with all three leaving their roles along with any other hires the company has made, which Netflix confirmed in a report by GameFile via VGC.
This new studio was seemingly formed with Netflix looking to expand on their success in the mobile gaming market. The streaming company have had success in partnerships with massive Devs like Devolver Digital and Football Manager's Sports interactive which has seen some of their biggest titles come to mobile for free to any subscribers to the steaming platform. However, it seems that their attempt to translate that success from mobile to multiple platforms has stalled before it ever got going with this announcement of the studio's closure.
