Gearbox revealed a surprise teaser trailer for Borderlands 4 at Gamescom opening night live, with the game being given a 2025 release window.
The trailer showed us very little in the way of story and gameplay but does seem to reveal the game will take place on a whole new planet, as the Psychos from the first game seem to be crashlanding on this massive purple planet surrounded by diamond like formations. A robot arm also reaches out and grabs one of the psycho masks, suggesting whatever populates this "planet" may not be human. My interest is piqued nonetheless.
This surprise will also be a welcome one for Borderlands fans given the lacklustre performance of the recently released movie.
