Far Cry 4, one of the most popular titles in the series after dropping more than a decade ago, just got a 60 FPS update on PS5.

The feature has been available on Xbox series X/S since 2021 but Ubisoft have decided to return the favour to PS5 with it's latest 1.08 update. The patch notes were short and sweet simply stating that this update was made to "support 60 FPS on PS5 console".

While this has come as a pleasant surprise to fans, it perhaps should have been expected given Ubsoft's track record of keeping old titles up to date on newer hardware. Assassins creed is perhaps the most common title to be given this update with Origins, Odyssey and Syndicate all good pushed up to 60 FPS years after release once new hardware was available. The Division 2 also got similar FPS updates on both Series X and PS5.

Time will tell if Ubisoft continues this trend with even older titles in the Far Cry series. My fingers are crossed as the third instalment is by far my favourite in the series and the Xbox One re-release came with no real tangible visible updates to speak of.
