Fans rejoice as Fortnite announced that the original map is coming back on a full time basis later this year

The original map returns as part of the new Fortnite OG season which drops on December 5th

Epic took to X (Twitter) to announce that the OG map will be returning permanently as part of the new OG season which releases in just a few weeks on December 6th.

This time last year, Fortnite temporarily brought back the old maps in a prior Fortnite event which seen the player count surge to a staggering 44.7 million in a single day according to Epic. This success is perhaps the main reason that the studio have decided to run back the exact same promo, with the map sticking around as a permanent fixture this time around.

The announcement promised that the old map will come complete with " OG loot" and the chance to "relive OG seasons" which could see the return of map altering events like the iceberg and meteor strikes which changed the face of the map entirely.

Fan's could hardly contain their excitement under the post with several agreeing that this is something they have been waiting for. Will it cause the same massive influx of players as the last event? Or will the fact that the map is sticking around for the long haul make for a more modest increase? Only time will tell.
