The latest in a year full of Cuts at EA

According to IGN, EA has cancelled its upcoming Black Panther game and shut down Ciffhanger games, the studio that was making it. While the number of layoffs are unclear, EA declined to comment but IGN understands that it is less than the "roughly 300" roles cut during the cuts made to Respawn and EA care teams.
IGN was given an email sent to staff by EA Entertainment President Laura Miele in which she insisted that this and other recent layoffs were to "sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities". Miele elaborates on this further by saying focus will be shifted towards well established franchises like: " Battlefield, The Sims, Skate and Apex Legends" as well as Star Wars Jedi and Iron Man.
The email wasn't all doom and gloom though as Miele revealed that "We’re doing everything we can to support them — including finding opportunities within EA, where we’ve had success helping people land in new roles".
Marvel also appeared unmoved by the cancellation of Black Panther as they emphasised their commitment to their partnership with EA after the cancellation saying: "The multi-title, long-term relationship between Marvel Games and EA, a creative collaboration focused on original storytelling with various, beloved Marvel characters, remains strong. Development of our console and PC titles, beginning with Marvel's Iron Man, is led by Motive Studios."
Previous little was shown of Black Panther since its announcement in 2023, with most details coming from Job listings by the studio which revealed it to be single player, action-adventure, open world game and now we will never know what that could have looked like.
