A new Resident Evil Remaster could be on the way

RE6 has been rated for the "Xbox Series" as Mature by ESRB before any official announcement by Capcom

A recent rating by ESRB appears to confirm that Resident Evil 6 is coming to next gen consoles. While the title is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch storefronts, it is the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the title. This new rating being entitled "Xbox Series" suggests a new, even further polished version of the 6th instalment of the zombie franchise is coming sooner rather than later.

The fact ESRB have already rated the title does suggest this is a simple remaster rather than the remake strategy Capcom has adopted in recent years. The rating did come as somewhat a surprise given Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica X were due to get the remake treatment next, not to mention it would mean Capcom is skipping a remaster of RE5. However, given the title has only been rated for Xbox, it could mean that ESRB is simply working its way through rating 5 and 6 for PS5 and Xbox respectively with this rating simply being the first to get released.

The 6th instalment was met with mixed reviews upon release, only scoring 67 on Metacritic as the series pivoted away from survival horror and focused more on the fast paced action that came with the series' transition to 3rd person.
